Chrysler Hires 1000 Engineers

Chrysler LLC has announced that it is hiring 1000 engineers, along with other high-tech employees, over the next four months. They are hoping to expand their small and mid-size vehicle segment. Now seems to be a great time to work for Chrysler.

The American automaker, which is now 20% owned by Fiat SpA, plans to hire the engineers, "including electrical, mechanical and manufacturing engineers, through the first quarter of 2011" as stated by Reuters.

Chrysler is introducing 16 new and upgraded vehicles over the next several years, including small cars such as the Fiat 500. An all-electric version of the upcoming Fiat 500 will be introduced to the US market in 2012. Chrysler is in the process of converting almost 200 dealerships to sell Fiat cars as well as Chrysler.

Chrysler has hired about 5000 new employees at its suburban Detroit location, since it exited a government-funded bankruptcy in June 2009.

Chrysler rivals, have also announced they will hire 1000 engineers and researchers in Michigan over the next two years to develop more electric cars and hybrids. Chrysler is getting ahead of the game by starting their search now, and releasing new domestic small, fuel efficient vehicles over the next year.
