Chrysler Sebring Convertible Will Live On

The Chrysler Sebring convertible has been around since the early 1990's. Back then, it was a darling of dealership lots. Fans loved the Coupe & convertible, and Chrysler dealerships (along with Dodge dealers with its twin Stratus) couldn't keep the vehicles on their lots.

Why was this? It was in part due to styling. The look of early Sebring convertibles was wildly popular. It combined decent performance with low maintenance and an affordable sticker price. That's a recipe for success.

In recent years, Chrysler Sebring convertible has remained an affordable automobile, but popularity has waned. How come? Many state the updated look of Sebring has caused fans to shy away. Others say its performance.

From 2011 and onward, Chrysler, along with new owners Fiat, have decided to keep the Sebring convertible as part of their line up. And as Chrysler execs have stated the outward design of the vehicles won't be upgraded much yet, inside will be a whole other story.

Chrysler will be updating the Sebring's engine with one of its new Pentastar V6 engines. The all-aluminum DOHC Pentastar V6 provides a 33% increase in power, along with an 11% increase in torque.

Other changes with upcoming Sebrings is in its name, which it may receive a new one of. The car may also be produced in Italy and shipped to the US for selling.

Chrysler thanks the rental car industry for saving Sebring - the Sebring convertible is the most popular summer rental in America. In the past, Sebring convertible was once the best selling drop-top car in the United States & Canada.
