Month After Month Chrysler Continues to Win Sales

Do you ever wonder what it feels like to sit atop the mountain of success? If so, just ask Chrysler. For the past 12 months the automaker has not only beaten the automotive industry's average sales increase but it has surpassed even its own expectations.

More specifically, Chrysler posted a 40-percent increase in vehicle sales for the month of February 2012. This number marks the automaker's best February sales number since 2008 and…

It's tough to think that the Sterling Heights plant was struggling only two years ago. In 2009, the American automaker didn't even incorporate the Sterling Heights manufacturing facility into their restructuring plans. Today, Sterling Heights is where the Chrysler 200 and Avenger are built. It's also the plant in which Chrysler has just guaranteed to provide $165 million to construct, a cutting-edge, brand new art body shop. This is on top of…

Chrysler Hires 1000 Engineers

Chrysler LLC has announced that it is hiring 1000 engineers, along with other high-tech employees, over the next four months. They are hoping to expand their small and mid-size vehicle segment. Now seems to be a great time to work for Chrysler.

The American automaker, which is now 20% owned by Fiat SpA, plans to hire the engineers, "including electrical, mechanical and manufacturing engineers, through the first quarter of 2011" as stated by Reuters.

Chrysler is introducing 16 new and upgraded vehicles over the next several years, including small cars such as the Fiat 500. An all-electric version of the…

Chrysler 200 Official Specs

Chrysler recently released images of the 2011 Sebring model redux, which will now be known as the Chrysler 200 (a smaller version of their luxury 300 model). It takes design cues from a concept first shown at last year's Detroit Motor Show, with some remodeling in the front and rear end.

Interior pictures were not released, but from what we know the 200 will come with upgraded materials including a new dashboard, instruments and seats, according to one Chrysler sources.

The US auto maker also finally released official specifications on the all new 200: The car will be offered…

Chrysler Joining Forces with Maserati?

Maserati is getting ready to introduce the all new "entry-level" sedan somewhere below their current Quattroporte vehicle. The vehicle has been the subject of much speculation, but the latest hits a little closer to home. This car is expected to be based on, reports say, the current Chrysler 300C.

According to reports, the vehicle underpinnings are shared with the next Chrysler 300. This in contrast with previous reports that the Trident marque was looking to develop a new platform for the model. This could be a good, yet expense move for the new Fiat/Chrysler empire.

Closer collaboration is expected between the Chrysler and Lancia divisions, which could also lead to a next-gen 300-based successor.

As sources point out, "this wouldn't be the first time that Maserati and Chrysler have gotten into bed with each other."

Close ties between onetime Chrysler chief Lee Iacocca and Alejandro de Tomaso (head of the sports car company that once owned Maserati) led to the disastrous exercise known as the Chrysler TC by Maserati. If these latest rumors turn out to be fact, we can expect to see an upgraded Chrysler 300 to be as luxurious as Maserati, and the Italian luxury vehicle to be (almost) as affordable as a Chrysler.

Vice President Joe Biden Visits Chrysler Plant

United States Vice President Joe Biden visited the Toledo, Ohio Chrysler assembly line this week. His trip was part pep rally and part tour, as he escorted Sergio Marchionne, new CEO of Chrysler Group LLC, around the area.

The Toledo Complex originally opened in 1910 and produced Willys-Overland vehicles before becoming famous for making the first Jeep CJ. The plant is composed of two facilities: Stickney and Parkway Annex.
During Biden's visit, he stopped and chatted with employees in charge of making the windshield, header seal, rear carpet, visor, support bar foam cover and wiper installations.

"I'd like…

Chrysler Will Make an Operating Profit

Fiat and Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne said the automaker earned an "operating profit" in the second quarter, while Fiat reported it earned $146 million in the April through June quarter. Chrysler will release the official second-quarter results on Aug. 9.

During this past quarter, Fiat, which owns 20% of Chrysler, began distributing Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge vehicles in Italy, France, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands and Belgium.

In May, Fiat and Chrysler began integrating their…

Chrysler Sebring Convertible Will Live On

The Chrysler Sebring convertible has been around since the early 1990's. Back then, it was a darling of dealership lots. Fans loved the Coupe & convertible, and Chrysler dealerships (along with Dodge dealers with its twin Stratus) couldn't keep the vehicles on their lots.

Why was this? It was in part due to styling. The look of early Sebring convertibles was wildly popular. It combined decent performance with low maintenance and an affordable sticker…
